With traditional hydro-cures, fango mud baths and plenty of beauty and health treatments, Montecatini Terme has nine classic baths to visit. Each is named after the salt-sulphur-alkaline springs they control and all are found in the Parco delle Terme. They are open May-Oct (except for the Excelsior, which is open year-round). Restructured in the 18th century after a visit by Grand Duke Leopardo, the best-known include the neo-Renaissance Excelsior, built in 1915 to a plan ny Bernardini; the mock-medieval Torretta; the mud baths of Leopoldine, built to plans by Giovannozzi; and the Neo-classical Tettuccio, a kind of thermal village with pavilions, streets and rest areas. Note the Belle Époque furnishings and ceramics, and the Moroni frescoes in the Sala della Scrittura.
